Welcome back, or welcome to, the Conscious Investor. I'm so happy to spend another Monday with you, conscious Investor. These really are my favorite days. Not really I love our days when we have guests on the show, but this is so special because it's just you and I getting to hang out, getting to dive deeper into a particular topic, and today is going to be a very special topic. In fact, just this morning, I was leading a small women's entrepreneurship group and I led them through this cool exercise and I thought it's very, very powerful for them and it made me realize that sometimes I should probably do some of these exercises and leave them for you. This is the first time I've ever done this, and so I would love your feedback to know how you like this exercise, if you actually do the exercise, and I hope that you do take the time to do this. This is a really short way In fact, it's going to be less than 15 minutes, I promise you but it's a very short way to wrap your head around what's going on in your life and to really feel absolutely amazing. Before we dive into this, I have got to share something super awesome with you.

Speaker 1:

I hate shopping. I know that sounds terrible, and I don't like the word hate. I really don't. However, I really do hate shopping. It is absolutely exhausting. By the time I find the thing that I actually want, it's like, oh well, they're out of it, they don't have my size or I have to try it on. It's just, it's such a process and I don't have time for it, and I also don't like the concept of filling my closet with things that I don't absolutely love, and so I haven't wanted to go other routes, other subscription routes. This is why I absolutely love Nuuly. I've been subscribing for a few months now, and Nuuly I know it's interesting N-U-U-L-Y.

Speaker 1:

Nuuly is actually a clothing rental business. If you watched Parks and Rec, yeah, it's very similar to that, but not totally the same. You can actually rent clothes. They have the best selection of clothes from my favorite brands and designers styles that I can wear around the house, around town, to my office, going to events, and I just love that. I can grab my favorites from anthropology. I could try, and I can try, new styles without feeling like I'm stuck with it in my closet for forever. Sometimes I just don't even want to have to go through that.

Speaker 1:

Every single item comes direct in one of the most amazing sustainable cloth packages and it comes with a return label inside of it, so I can just shoot it on back, ship it on back. It's really great. I've even forgotten to ship some things back and I go to their customer service and their customer service Boom, it's no big deal, they give me a solution and it's all done, because, let's just face it, sometimes things happen. So this isn't the same thing as like Stitch Fix or other subscriptions, where you have to pay a styling fee and this fee and that fee and the other fee and you have to buy stuff. You don't have to buy anything. For $99 a month, I can rent garments of clothing that come directly shipped to me from brands that I know like, trust and absolutely love and adore. I can fill my closet for a season, for a period of time, and then send it on back and try something new for another month. It's so much fun. In fact, I found my favorite pair of overalls doing this and I got so many compliments on them and I felt so great in them I actually decided to buy them, which is the other cool thing. If you do fall in love with something, you can buy that piece of clothing at a really deep discount Right now.

Speaker 1:

If you want to try Nuuly, you can head on over, you can download the app or you can go to the website. You can download the app or you can go to the website N-U-U-L-Y and you can save $30 off your first order with the promo code JULIE4822. That's J-U-L-I-E 4822. And the cool thing is that you're not bound to some subscription. I I like to be committed to my marriage. That's a great lifelong commitment. I'm committed to mountain biking. I have some commitments, but I don't want to commit to a service like this and I love that I can pause this, I can cancel it at any single time, no styling fees, and if I love it and I want to add it to my forever closet, I can buy it at a deep discount. So I highly recommend that you go over to Nuuly N-U-U-L-Y, download the app and get started today. Remember that promo code JULIE4822. It's going to save you $30 off your first order and let's just say I'm pretty certain that you're absolutely going to love it.

Speaker 1:

Conscious investor, let's dive on in, because today we're going to go through the first six months of the year. I cannot believe it's already June. I can't believe we're six months into the year and at this point in the year. So often this is a point where people lose that momentum. They lose that traction, and this is the moment Now I know at the end of the year I'm like you know I'm always talking about like this is a season you got to push hard and this is where you get ahead and everything, but no separation season. That was what I was looking for. So in a sense, this is another type of separation season, because we can all start the year out strong, but it oftentimes fades and by the time June comes and the weather is warm and beautiful and we just want to be outside, we find ourselves kind of backing off. In fact, we even console ourselves like, oh, I worked so hard and it's so warm. I just want to do this, I want to hang out with my family, I want to do warm weather activities.

Speaker 1:

I obviously I'm speaking from a northerner, right Northern perspective, and that's when we lose months. There's like a four month, it's not, it's more than one quarter, it's a four month block where so many people lose their momentum from the end of May until about the beginning of mid September. I'm going to go mid-September, late September. It's like there are a lot of excuses that are made and we think it's okay, I've got time. So no, you don't have time. You don't have time to waste, because, remember, we can't get time back. We want to be good stewards of our time and so sometimes it's really healthy to reflect back on what we have accomplished already over throughout the year, because we've probably accomplished more than we realized.

Speaker 1:

So during this session and I'm going to call this a session I haven't ever done one of these with you, conscious Investor, but I'm so excited about this. I'm going to invite you to just walk through this process. So grab a notebook, grab a pencil, grab a pen if you want, but please find something where you can write it down. I'm going to show you. If you're looking on YouTube, I have. I guess I have to turn it, turn my green screen on so that you can actually see this, but I wanted to show you.

Speaker 1:

This is a book I have and I go through all sorts of books. These are my two favorite things right here. Yeah, I know Real fancy huh. Um, a BIC, I think these. My son got me hooked on nine, the nine millimeter lead or whatever. That is, yeah, 0.9. I used to be like a 0.05 and now I'm a 0.9.

Speaker 1:

But the reason I like this is that when we're writing with paper and a pencil, we're actually stimulating our brain in a different capacity. It's actually all these micro vibrations that are taking place and actually when we hold our pencil the way they taught us to back in school this index finger is actually like transmitting to our brain. It's really powerful. So I highly encourage you.

Speaker 1:

As much as I love, I have my glass top desk that I'm always using my dry eraser on as I'm talking with you, conscious Investor, actually, I want to encourage you to just go back to traditional old school paper and pencil. The drag is great and even if you are like Julie, I never go back and read it. That's okay. You don't ever have to go back and read it. It's actually imprinting into your brain on a whole different level. It's almost like the difference between reading a tangible physical book and listening to the audio book. You get about 20% when you're going on the audio book and you get substantially more going reading with a book book because our attention is different. Well, this is sparking your neurological attention.

Speaker 1:

Writing with paper and pencil, okay, and I know that a lot of those pens they come out with now are really fancy and they glide so well, but that glide is actually hindering us from getting the maximum capacity. Did you know that you were going to get a little brain lesson here today? So, um, all right. So the first thing we'll want to do now that actually my little um lesson in that has probably given you opportunity to grab that paper and pencil and the first thing I want you to do is we're going to take and I'm going to set my my phone for about two minutes and I want to invite you to actually uh, I'm going to play two minutes of music, just because some of you might not be in a position. You're listening with your AirPods. Um, I'm going to set it for two minutes and I want you to write down over the last six months.

Speaker 1:

I'm recording this in June, however, and so I want you to think back from January to June. However, you can do this exercise at any six month interval that you wish to do this. In fact, you can convince and adapt this exercise however you want. You can do this once a month. You can do this each week. You can make and modify this to your own so that it serves you well.

Speaker 1:

The idea is that we walk away with an enhanced understanding of what we've accomplished and what we would like to see moving forward in the near future. We're not talking about super long term goals. We're talking about, okay, over the next six months. So if I'm looking at a year and I'm looking back six months, I'm going to be looking forward six months, so kind of one of those double year runway. If you're looking back over a week, when, what does the next week look like? What are the goals for that. If you're looking at a month again, just looking at, okay, in another month, what do I want to accomplish? So that's kind of the concept of the runway, all right.

Speaker 1:

So let's go ahead, and I want you to take two minutes. That's such not much time it took us about seven minutes when we did this this exercise this morning but I'm going to give you two minutes. I'm going to play a little bit of music for you and you're going to just write down just the highlights. What are the things that you have accomplished? And I assure you, if you give it a little more time than two minutes, you're going to find more. One thing that I find helpful, also in doing this type of activity, is to have my calendar handy, and so maybe you want to grab your phone, you want to grab your paper calendar, something of that nature, so that you can see your calendar, because sometimes that will jog our memory a little bit more. So let's go ahead and take just a couple of moments for you to write down everything that you remember accomplishing. Now, sorry, I know I keep saying we're going to go and then I add more, so I apologize.

Speaker 1:

The other element here is that I don't want you to provide a value to these things. Maybe you went to the gym three times every single week for a month and that was a huge success, even though you didn't do it other months, but that's success. Maybe you were balancing out and you're taking your vitamins and you were being more regular with that. So this isn't a perfection type thing. I aced it, it's just a simple what are some things that I am trying to celebrate that I notice about myself that I am doing well, thank you, thank you. I'm going to go ahead and run up Contest Ambassador now. If you need more time with that, that's okay. Just hit pause right now on the podcast, play some music, or you could just jump back four times on the 30 second thing and you can have an extra two minutes.

Speaker 1:

The next element that I want you to do is I want you to go through that list and I want you to choose anywhere from one to three items that really jump out at you, items that make you feel especially proud. I will tell you on my list I had a variety of things. I spoke at a lot of meetup events. It seems like I'm so grateful for that opportunity to serve in that capacity. That was really cool, but that wasn't one that I circled.

Speaker 1:

I circled that I put on a multi-day event, the Conscious Investor Growth Summit. It was a success, it was awesome and that felt great. I also on my list circled that I'm having morning walks with super ad Steve and really focusing and prioritizing my marriage. It's really important. I'm so excited to grow old with him and I'm excited about the life that we've been building for years, even though we've gone through a lot of hard knocks like wow, now I'm kind of re reinvigorated as to okay, what does that look like, growing old together? And then the third one I circled was I'm okay with some of the unraveling that's happening in my life as I'm stepping into a new version of myself. I think it's really exciting, and I've been through this metamorphosis multiple times now, and so, instead of being afraid of it or frustrated by it maybe I've been a little frustrated at times, but it's exciting to me. And so you see that there are a lot of different areas of life where I've been touched over the last six months. Your areas could be very, very different, but I want to encourage you that we want to always focus on health, mindset and wealth. You don't want to be imbalanced in any part of our life. I think it's really exciting.

Speaker 1:

The next thing well, I'm sorry, conscious investor, I need to give you a moment. Go ahead and take a moment. Circle one, two or three of those areas that just made you smile. I could have circled a lot more, because I think most of these things really made me smile a lot, but those are the top three. Now I want to encourage you to do something really fun and it's probably going to make your make you go. What? No? But I want to encourage you to head on over to Instagram and to tag me in a post. Tag the Conscious Investor Podcast and tag me in a post. Take a picture of this page with your circled items. I know that's really personal. It might feel vulnerable, but it's really powerful, and I would love to see what you've discovered.

Speaker 1:

Here's the next part that we're going to do Of all of those things. What is something that you would like to see in the next six months of life For me? I was putting down like I'm starting to recalibrate my output in life. Remember, recently we talked about success and I had my success rant and everything, but I'm really starting to recalibrate what is success and what are the things that I want to embody and to be the output of my life? Like, what do I want people to see from my life, from what I'm creating? And so that's something I'm becoming very like more aware of and that's not just like on a content creation side of things, that's on a contribution side of things. What is the net result of the things that I am creating and producing? What is the net result of the things that I am creating and producing? And yours is going to be yours, because you're you and you're uniquely, wonderfully, beautifully created to be you, and so don't be shy about having something that is so beautifully, wonderfully, you Write yours on down.

Speaker 1:

Now the next part is really fun to do with with other people who are committed to personal growth, and you might have someone in your life that's not super committed but they could use some encouragement and you can be a role model and that is, you know, going through and talking about like, okay, well, where could I use more support? You can go through this exercise with a friend, with somebody else small group and then you could also talk after. Can go through this exercise with a friend, with somebody else, a small group, and then you could also talk after you go through this and discuss it a little bit more in depth with each other. But you could also talk about areas where you could actually use specific support, like how could that person specifically support you? And then you're starting to build out this network, this ecosystem amongst each other.

Speaker 1:

Some of the things that came up in our little group this morning. We're like, hey, you know what? Actually, if someone could just check in. So, basically, accountability, you know, every week, every other week, something just, and it was very specific on Wednesdays. This person recognized that the middle, which is what we talked about earlier, the middle of the year, the middle of the day, the middle of the week the middle is where the lag often takes place. And this person recognized that. And so that person was like I could just use a Wednesday check-in.

Speaker 1:

Someone else said I can procrastinate, so I could use some encouragement to make sure that I'm staying on track, on pace. Someone. I love this response. Someone else said uh, just, can someone send me a message on Mondays asking me if I'm being congruent with myself? Talk about self-awareness so cool, there's more depth there, but I'm going to honor. The conversation was a private conversation and someone else asked for something very, very specific to their business and what they needed with their business.

Speaker 1:

So it's important to be able to go through these, these type of exercises and to see what did I accomplish and to celebrate that, because I bet you discovered that you accomplished far more than you realized and that you were further along than you realized. And when we take that time to recognize that, it's just reinvigorating and it gives us that stamina, that extra push that is going to help us. Just send these next three, four months, you know, into this catapult, into this most magnificent way. We're not going to lose the traction, we're not going to lose the momentum because we're focused. Conscious investor, I appreciate you so much. Please make sure that you are tagging the conscious investor podcast over on Instagram with things that you think that are going to be relevant and helpful to the community, because I love that and we want to become more involved with each other in each other's lives.

Speaker 1:

Remember that you can actually have a copy of really the skeleton of the book I'm working on. It's called Beyond Financial Freedom the Conscious Investor Guide to Personal Freedom. I'd love to send you your own free, personal copy. I can text it to you and, yeah, it is my number that comes to my phone. It's my business number. I'm not giving out my personal number anymore and that was really hard. That was a hard, hard hurdle for me, but it's also important so that I can serve you. But you can text my number. It's 208-944-1836. And if you text the word FREEDOM, f-r-e-e-d-o-m to that number, you'll be able to have your own copy of Beyond Financial Freedom.

Speaker 1:

It is so beautifully put together. My brand Sherpa took my words and took everything and once again just made this beautiful digitized version. It reads like a magazine and I would love to have your feedback. I'm writing the book, the full length version of this, right now, and so your feedback would actually help influence my book, and that book is going to 208-944-1836, so that you can download that copy of Beyond Financial Freedom and don't be a stranger.

Speaker 1:

Give me your feedback, let me know your thoughts, give me your challenges, your pushback, all of it, because that makes it stronger and together, together, our ideas will be able to serve the world powerfully. I appreciate you, conscious Investor, and I wish you the very best, happiest, most wonderful Monday or whatever day of the week it is that you're listening to. And one last thing if you're getting anything from this podcast at all, would you please do something that is completely free but massively helpful? Will you please share this episode with people in your life? I can't get this show out there without your support, and I can't think of anyone better to collaborate with than you. So thanks for helping get the word out about the Conscious Investor Podcast, and until next time, cheers to your health, mindset and wealth. Thank you, ©. Transcript Emily Beynon.
